LE VIGNE Barolo 2003
Tasting notes
(January 2012)
The higher-altitude sites in Monforte aided by slowing the ripening process in relation to vineyards closer to the valley floor, and this Le Vigne shows open, generous aromas and flavors of ripe black and red fruits, framed by vanilla and violet notes.
The tannins are very ripe and acid is surprisingly fresh for such a warm vintage - this is where the higher plantings really helped balance the wine.
Very surprising and evolving at a slower pace than its brother, the 2003 Cannubi Boschis.

Evolution of the vintage 2003
Stable weather conditions, with lots of sunshine and very little rain, favoured the higher vineyards, which were affected less by the exceptionally high temperatures.
Harvest: individual for each vineyard; from the 15th of September (Ceretta) to the 29th of September (Vignane).
